Sloane Sherman (she/her) is an multidisciplinary artist based in Tiohtià:ke (Montréal). Confessional and diaristic, her practice comprises painting, drawing, comics, and film. A preoccupation with symbolism and storytelling serves as the connecting tissue throughout her work, in which she explores the interaction of self and environment to create works of autofiction and allegory. Her recent work has steered increasingly towards the investigation of Montréal’s built environment and vernacular architecture against the backdrop of the current housing crisis.
Sloane graduated from Concordia University with a BFA in Film Production in 2023. The same year, she completed her first independent short film, Ratgirl, which was submitted for presentation on the festival circuit. She has self-published one comic about apartments, Walls Remember, also in 2023.
